Taibah International School is the winner for the Your World video Competition 2016/2017. The exams team flanked by the British Council Director in Uganda Fiona Inci, visited the school and presented certificates plus an award of recognition to the students who took part in the competition. She applauded the students for the originality and creativity of their work and congratulated the Head Teacher Annet Nannyonjo and Teacher Paul Mwambi who coordinated the students. The second in series of the competition run by the British Council’s Partner Schools Global network, the theme for that academic year was ‘Hope’.
Students who take UK school examinations such as GCSEs and A levels at schools within the British Council Uganda were invited to work in groups and submit short videos to offer a window into their lives and their communities, for the world to see.This exciting global competition gave students from Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Qatar, Jordan, Kuwait, Egypt, Sudan, UAE, Rwanda, Malawi, Uganda, Ghana, Zambia, Cyprus and Colombia an insight into the lives ofstudents from cultures very different to their own.
1,864 students from 206 schools in 18 countries competed nationally, regionally and globally in the competition. British Council was delighted to announce Taibah International School as the winners of the 14-17 year-olds age group category in Uganda.
The overall global winners from Colombia (14-17year-olds age group category) and Sudan (11-14 year-olds age group category) will be flying to the UK this summer alongwith their lead teacher to attend an accredited British Council school for creative arts.You can view the video from Taibah International School here.
