Our research into the next generation of young people in SSA and the UK tells us that people want:
  • Capital to start up creative businesses of their own
  • Business skills training, and peer-to-peer mentorship opportunities
  • Spaces to talk, share concerns, and support each other
We respond to this by offering individuals and organisations training in business and digital skills, networking events, access to new markets, connections to resources and financial opportunities through the Creative DNA, Creative Hustle and showcase programme.
Click on the sections below for more information about the different programme activities and look out for the call for applications.

Creative Hustles

Creative Hustle is a seminar-style event that offers young people aged 18 - 35 the opportunity to gain awareness of the breadth of artistic and non-artistic livelihood opportunities available across creative sector value chains.

Creative Showcase programme

Our Creative Showcase Programme is an initiative that champions local artists and creatives, providing access to prestigious exhibition spaces and venues in Uganda. The #iam4art Showcase is not just an event; it's an immersive experience that combines creative activities and captivating performances, along with a vibrant Pop-up market of amazing Ugandan products and services.

The concept of the British Council Creative Economy pop-up market is to support young creative entrepreneurs, especially alumni of our programmes who have taken the retail and entrepreneurial world in Uganda by storm in recent years.
This temporary market will be set up at the British Council foyer, offering a unique and dynamic shopping experience for both vendors and visitors. This opportunity provides a platform for small-scale businesses, independent artisans, and entrepreneurs in Uganda to showcase their products, arts, and services while offering customers a chance to discover and support local talent.
